Our story

Why are there no bike saddle covers that are well-made, small and actually waterproof?

It started with that simple question a few years ago.

Sure, you can use a shower cap or an old plastic bag to keep your saddle dry, but you have to remember to pack it in case it rains, then you need somewhere to put it when it's wet.

We searched high and low for existing products, we found many, but none were quite right.

So we set about coming up with some ideas for a new product, and embarked on some rapid prototyping and materials research to find the simplest, neatest design. We tested over 40 types of fabric. We took sewing lessons, we bought a 3d printer, we tried laser cut components.

After a few iterations we had something that we were happy with, it was simple, light, neat and it really worked.

We started testing Saddlemac in the rain and snow and we got our friends involved. We got feedback and adjusted our designs. We found a manufacturer to work with, ensuring quality of materials and workmanship were up to scratch.

We were lucky enough to be introduced to a great designer who created our lovely logo and started to give Saddlemac its own identity.

And now, with the support and encouragement of our friends and family, plus the work of some talented people, we're excited to release Saddlemac into the world.

No more soggy bottoms!
